Research Spotlight

 

The focus of this Chapter is the design and implementation of a bespoke Graduate Certificate of Secondary Mathematics specifically designed for out-of-field teachers of mathematics in Years 7-10. 

This chapter reflects on the methodological underpinnings and guiding principles that shaped the design and delivery of the course, which aims to address the problem of disengagement and declining mathematics achievement in secondary schools by giving out-of-field mathematics teachers time to study and develop the knowledge and skills required to teach mathematics.
